DAY 8 APRIL FOOL'S
Paul Before
Paul After. The Nurse made me smile. I wanted to frown
Johan and Paul
Here is the April Fool. No foolin' going on here. It really is gone. I wasn't due for this until tomorrow but Johan was getting sheared today and he wanted company. Being the kind compassionate soul that I am I conceded. They get rid of your hair in anticipation of Chemo. Imagine running your hand across sandpaper. I can't even get my Daw sweatshirt over my head now.
I have one more day of stem cell stimulation and then they will put a port in my neck to suck the 130,000,000 stem cells out (harvest may be the more appropriate term). Hoping it goes smoothly. Most people here say it is not a big deal. What could possibly go wrong having a tube shoved in your neck and sucking blood out? All kidding aside they truly do incredible work here. The level of skill and professionalism is amazing.
The rest of the day was pretty mellow. Got my 11pm and 3am shots (the 3am shot I didn't even feel). Steroid infusion at 10am. Requisite pills. I recorded my interview with Dr. Fedorenko. I listened to it about 3 times yesterday. It is fascinating to hear the logic and step by step process and why they do what they do. He explains the steroids and antacid pills and the shots. I wish I was smarter. Takes me a while to absorb everything. I will try to listen to it again so it is fresh in my head and then write about it.
Visited with Katja today. Me, Johan and Katja are in the same wave. She is originally from Germany but lives in Norway. Very kind and interesting to talk to. Funny to talk to everyone about their country's medical structures. She said the tests that were done in 2 days here would have been 3 months in Norway. Visited with Angelica for quite some time. She just finished chemo today. Rebecca too. Rebecca has severe psoriatic arthritis. It is an auto-immune condition and Dr. Fedorenko agreed to treat her. He said there are no promises but they believe that this can work. She is running out of options. The treatments she has been doing are killing her body.
Probably enough for today.
Breakfast-that square thing is actually egg. Caught me off guard
Dinner-I always forget to take a picture of one meal
Yul Brynner look suits you, do you have to avoid certain foods while on treatment?
