DAY 12 APRIL 5
Courtesy of Lynnette!!
Today was pretty mellow. As I mentioned they took out the catheter last night and I did not have to get any shots in the middle of the night. I slept pretty good. Very quiet on my floor now because more than half of the people are now in isolation. Weird to think that Frank and John have now been in isolation a whole week and will be going home in a few days!
Katja (Norway) and Khalid (Kuwait) started chemo today. Johan (Netherlands) Raul (Romania) and me will start tomorrow. Johan Raul and me are all three primary progressive MS. We seem to be the more mobility limited of Sid's toys.
Dr. Fedorenko came in this morning and said I would get my new catheter for chemo today and then start chemo tomorrow. So this afternoon I got wheeled up to the 3rd floor (my room is on the 2nd) and put me right into the room.
It was a different doctor today. She was very friendly and spoke some English. She was an anesthesiologist. I think she might have been 18 years old! She looked young!
The second catheter was similar to the first experience...probably 4 pushes instead of 6 though. The whole catheter experience is the first time I have been grateful to have a long neck. I feel like it gives them a better chance at success!
Finally this evening we visited with Johan and Katja for a while. Then Lynnette and I went to one of the new patient's room. Her name is Amelia and she is here with her mother from New Zealand. Lynnette and Stephanie (her mother) are staying at the same hotel. Incredibly nice people. The father (husband) is a very accomplished glider pilot. Looks like we will be going to New Zealand to do a little soaring!
Breakfast
Lunch...never thought cauliflower would go into my body
Dinner...Meatloaf and Beets
You have such a good attitude about that food. It looks like something you would get in a county jail. Can't Lynette bring you something to eat? I have been worried about what it is going to be like for you to go through Chemo, but I should have been worried about the food. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteGood wholesome grub, is the food part of your treatment?
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the food we received as a kid in England, there was rationing until 1954 due to the war, no obesity in our school.
Paul and Lynette,
ReplyDeleteDave and I are following you blog. Wishing you the best! Looks like they pulled out all the stops on the food. Much better than when I was there, but somewhat the same. Keeping you in our prayers.
