DAY 6 MARCH 30

Global Scale-Rachel (R) Kevin Kruse (K) Lynnette (LS)...Too bad Carson doesn't have an iphone and Josh isn't in Africa anymore

Sunset in Russia (LS is Lynnette)

Find me on Google Maps

So I had a lot of people ask me where we were going for the treatment. I thought would give a step by step map sequence. Although Rachel does not represent Napa, who wouldn't know where Provo, Utah is. Like Chevy Chase so aptly stated in Fletch, "Those are three of my favorite names...Marvin, Thelma and Provo."

Today is the "official" start day. So if you refer to the earlier post where it shows my schedule I started at #1 today. Starting stem cell stimulation. Usually lasts 4 days. I received a steroid shot in the morning. I might try to get a better download of the schedule. It is not the best quality. I also took 2 antacid pills. Finally I received two G-CSF stimulation injections at 11pm and 3 am. I have no idea what that all means. They are just trying to get enough stem cells to harvest. Russia collects 2,000,000 stem cells per kilogram of body weight. That is only 130,000,000 for me. How hard could that be?

The rest of the day I just spent hanging out with my peeps. Angelica is my Bay Area bud. She is from Livermore and is a dispatcher for Oakland Police Department. Very cool and knowledgeable. She is a week ahead of me. She is right across the hall. Probably tired of me but she will be in isolation soon enough.

Hung out with Johan and Pip from the Netherlands. He is very similar to me but has had the disease a lot longer. They have some trouble with English so we try to help them out. Google translate is very popular in this facility. Pip is also staying the whole time. She and Lynnette run around together. Pip's mom will be coming next week for a while. She likes the Russian flea market. She bought a mink hat for $22 USD. Said in Netherlands it would cost $112 USD. She bought several hats, a jacket and some gloves. Very friendly and funny. Lynnette likes all the kisses she get from her. Says she is going to adopt the practice.

Finally tonight we met two people that just got out of isolation and are going home tomorrow and Monday. One is from Manchester, England and the other from Melbourne, Australia. Interesting to talk to them. Everyone has very unique experiences. A young couple from Iran was sitting with us. Extremely nice. She has MS. They sold their home to come do the treatment. Very kind and funny. They are Kurdish. I had to take a history lesson.

I am the only one that seems okay with the food...and I am usually the picky eater.
